Sunday, October 5, 12:00 noon - Considering joining St. John's? Come to a lunch with staff at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 5, in St. John's Hall.  This is an opportunity for people thinking of becoming members of St. John’s to have lunch and mingle with the church staff.

Blessing of the Animals:  Sunday, October 5, 1:00 p.m.  Blessing of the Animals service, west side of the church.  St. Francis of Assisi was noted for his love of God's creation, including God's creatures, and many Christians honor his feast day, Oct. 4, by having a service for the blessing of animals.  All are invited to come Sunday and celebrate God's gift of animals.  Bring a pet for a blessing, or just come!

Parenting Classes for Parents of Preschoolers:  Sunday, Oct. 5 in the St. John’s nursery, 9:45 a.m.  "Small Wonders”  is followed by a discussion with parents led by Carrie Duba on the joys and challenges of being a parent of a preschooler.  The class will begin with “Small Wonders,” a time of story and song for children not yet old enough for Sunday School.  The class is during the Education Hour for children and their parents.

St. John’s Forum, Sunday, Oct. 5, St. John's Hall, 9:45 a.m.: “Crisis of Faith”: Religion in the 1960 and 1976 Presidential Elections” presented by Professor Christian Scharen, Luther Seminary.

Tuesday Noon Bible Study for adults takes place Tuesdays in the Fireside Room.  The pastor preaching the following Sunday leads discussion centering around the Scripture for that Sunday.  All adults are welcome.

Circle Bible Study Leaders meet Monday, Oct. 6 at 12:00 p.m. in the Fireside room.  All women who would like to join a Circle are encouraged to attend any Circle of your choice. 

All Staff meeting is this Tuesday, Oct. 7 at 5:00 p.m.  A brief regular staff meeting is Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. that day.

Second Wednesdays is this Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 5:15 p.m.  This is a time of fellowship, food, and fun for all ages.  The menu is beef sloppy joes or veggie sloppy joes on wheat buns or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, lettuce salad, pickles & carrots, chips and dessert.   All are welcome.

Confirmation Rehearsal breakfast is this Saturday, Oct. 11 at 9:00 a.m.

Youth Blast! Overnight Retreat is Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11.  It is for all kids in grades 3-6.  Join us for 24 hours of learning, games, hikes and lots of fun at Good Earth Village in Spring Valley.  Register by calling Julie Brehmer, 645-4429 or e-mail at jbrehmer@stjohns-elca.org.
